A sea-faring race of elves, the maenads are descended from the fey races of the seas and oceans, most commonly the oceanids. Maenads contain within them the tranquility of the ocean but also the potential to suddenly erupt with the power and fury of the storm.
Maenads have thick, dark hair on their heads primarily in shades of blue and gray, but lack any other hair on their body; instead their skin is covered in flecks of sparkling crystals, giving them a peculiar sparkle as if covered with droplets of dew. The coloration of these crystals define the look for each individual maenad, ranging from pale white to jet black, and many believe that the coloration is determined by their most powerful emotion. Maenads are naturally graceful and have fine features, possessing typical elven beauty.
