Invocations

By invoking the name of a higher power, you call upon its authority to create a esoteric effect as a spell-like ability. Unless otherwise noted, an invocation is a spell-like ability that has both verbal and somatic components (like a spell), and using an invocation is a standard action that provokes an attack of opportunity and can be used at will. Despite having somatic components, invocations are not subject to arcane spell failure or other restrictions the way arcane spells are.

If an invocation has prerequisites, you must meet them to learn that invocation. You can learn the invocation at the same time that you meet its prerequisites. A level prerequisite refers to your class level in the class which granted the invocation.

Metacast Invocations

Some invocations have the [Metacast] descriptor. These invocations modify the effects of another invocation when that invocation is cast. These invocation generally do nothing if you do not also cast the invocation they modify.
