The least of devilkind, lemures roil forth from the ranks of souls damned to Hell, shapeless masses of quivering flesh. What spark of instinct or memory lingers on within a lemure’s semi-consciousness regularly shapes its features to mimic those of its tormentors or the tortured souls around it. Grotesque and useless, a lemure’s features speak nothing of what it once was. Many exhibit multiple terrible visages or are nothing more than churning pillars of cancerous flesh. Only their knobby, flailing limbs work as they should, and those they merely use to destroy any non-infernal life that draws too near. Moving lemures typically congeal in forms over 4 feet tall and weigh upward of 200 pounds, though when at rest these disgusting fiends often appear to be little more than lumps of melted flesh and malformed features.
Lemures are mindless and cannot communicate or utter sounds of any kind, but they are sensitive to telepathic messages from other devils, typically obeying a devil’s mental commands. They sometimes have enough training to follow simple commands given in Infernal, but this is usually limited to “Attack” and “Stop.”
Lemures are the lowest ranking devils of all, “born” from the sludge-like remains of a soul condemned into hell after endless torments have wrung it dry of power and destroyed any trace of memory or personality. These pitiful creatures are regularly bullied, abused and trampled over by other fiends, only barely aware of the suffering they endure. Such repulsive beings assemble in vast mobs, waves of putrescence thousands upon thousands strong. Greater devils can spot the most corrupt of these fiends and, either through mysterious tortures or the powers of Hell itself, reshape them into true devils, newly born and ready to obediently serve in the legions of the damned.

A devil’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as evil-aligned and lawful-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.
Infernal Advancement
A lemure cannot gain class levels and may only gain additional racial hit dice. However, if a lemure gains enough experience to gain a third hit die, it undergoes a fiendish transformation, becoming an imp with 3 hit dice. The lemure loses all abilities and traits and effectively becomes an entirely new creature with only hazy memories of its existence as a mindless lemure.
Regeneration
A lemure possesses regeneration 1. Only a coup-de-grace attack deals lethal damage to a lemure.
