Oni Warrior

The path of the samurai often draws those with less civilized tactics. Oni warriors are those who feed on the thrill of combat, embracing the battlefield with an unbound vigor that their more disciplined kin cannot understand.

Class Skills (4 + Int modifier per level):

Class Features

An Oni Warrior does not gain the Ancestral Weapon, Ancestral Scion, Banner, Improved Banner, Greater Banner, War Banner, and Battlefield Champion class features.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

An Oni Warrior gains no proficiency with any type of weapon, armor, or shield.

Fury of the Akuma

The more damage an oni warrior sustains, the more powerful he becomes. For every 5 points of damage held in your delayed damage pool, you gain a +1 morale bonus on weapon damage rolls.

Rage Powers

Starting at 2nd level and every two levels thereafter, you gain a rage power as a barbarian of your samurai level. However, these rage powers function a little differently for an oni warrior.

These rage powers can be used only while you have a challenge active and have a minimum of 5 points of damage in your delayed damage pool granting you at least a +1 bonus from your Fury of the Akuma ability.

Rage powers which cost rounds of rage instead cost points of zeal, which each point of zeal paying for one round of rage. So, if a rage power requires two rounds of rage to activate, you must instead pay two points of zeal. Conversely, rage powers which extend a rage grant a number of points of zeal equal to the rounds of rage the rage power would normally grant, up to your daily maximum zeal.

If you gain rage powers from a separate source, such as levels in barbarian, the benefits do not stack. The rage powers and their benefits must be tracked separately for each class.

Oni's Hubris

At 5th level, as a free action, you can choose to ignore your defense to enhance your prowess, believing that your enemies pose no true threat to you. When you activate this ability, all attacks made against you target your touch AC or flat-footed AC, whichever is lower, and you suffer a -10 circumstance penalty to Reflex saves. These penalties last until the next time you take damage.

The next time you take damage from an attack, you immediately regain 1 point of zeal, up to your maximum zeal. In addition, you can use an immediate action to make an Intimidate check to demoralize the enemy that dealt damage to you, ignoring any immunity to fear it possesses as you seem to shrug off any damage it dealt.

At 9th level, you can make an attack of opportunity against the enemy that damaged you, if that enemy is in a square you threaten.

At 14th level, you instead gain 2 points of zeal when you are damaged while using this ability, and you add your Charisma bonus (if any) to the attack roll if you make an attack of opportunity against your attacker.

When you reach 17th level, your Intimidate check from this ability affects all enemies within 60 feet, ignoring any immunity to fear they might possess.

Champion of the Oni

At 20th level, your fury on the battlefield is unrivaled. As long as you have a bonus from fury of the akuma, you add your Charisma bonus to attack rolls and weapon damage rolls. When you use your oni’s hubris, you may spend a point of zeal to issue a challenge, even if you currently have a challenge active. This challenge affects all enemies that you successfully demoralize with your Intimidate check from oni’s hubris.

While you have an active challenge, you can spend zeal to continue fighting even when your wounds should claim your life. You can spend 1 point of zeal as a free action to remove 10 damage from your delayed damage pool and may spend multiple points in this way on your turn.

In addition, you gain zeal points each day based on your total samurai level rather than only half.
