There are those who believe the world itself is a single massive dragon, and all exists upon and within its very body. They call this being the Earth Dragon. Those who seek communion with the Earth Dragon learn to channel powers of the earth that they claim are granted by this powerful being. While there is no provable evidence that such a creature truly exists, the powers granted to its savants are evidence enough for the true believers.
Becoming an Earth Dragon Savant
All Earth Dragon savants are arcane spellcasters who seek to gain further power by tapping into the the strength of the Earth Dragon.
Entry Requirements
To qualify to become an Earth Dragon Savant, a character must fulfill the following criteria.
Skills: Arcane Lore 5 ranks, Natural Lore 3 ranks, Theology 3 ranks.
Spellcasting: Ability to cast 3rd-level arcane spells.
Feats: Any two metamagic feats.
Special: Must spend at least 1 week underground in meditation on the Earth Dragon.

Class Features
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
An Earth Dragon Savant gains no proficiency with any type of weapon, armor, or shield.
Arcane Spellcasting
At each class level, you progress the arcane spellcasting of one of your existing classes. If you had more than one arcane spellcasting class before becoming an Earth Dragon savant, you must decide to which class you add the new level for progression.
Magic of the Earth Dragon
As you begin your studies, you grow in tune with the powers of the earth and gain favor with the Earth Dragon itself. Each day when you regain your spell slots, you gain Earth Dragon’s Favor equal to your class level + your Wisdom modifier. These points of favor can be spent to power several class abilities.
At 1st level, you can expend one point of favor and a prepared arcane spell or unused arcane spell slot to cast a spell from the Earth domain of the same spell level or less. This counts as casting an arcane spell for all purposes. You may apply the effects of metamagic feats to the spell as if you were spontaneously casting an arcane spell, adjusting its effective spell level as normal.
Claws of the Earth Dragon
You can call upon the power of the Earth Dragon to trap your foes after reaching 2nd level. By expending one favor as a move action, you can cause the earth to shift near a target creature at close range (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels), attempting to ensnare them. The target must make a Reflex save (DC is as a 2nd-level arcane spell) or be immobilized for 1d4+1 rounds as stony talons emerge from the earth to grasp them in an unbreakable grip.
This ability only affects targets who are touching on dirt or unfinished stone.
If you use this ability on a creature already immobilized by it, they automatically fail the save and are immobilized for an additional 1d4+1 rounds.
Vitality of the Earth Dragon
The Earth Dragon lends its health and vitality to its faithful servants, shielding them from harm and soothing their wounds. At 3rd level, while in contact with the earth, you can spend 1 point of favor to gain fast healing equal to your arcane spellcasting class’ key ability modifier for 5 rounds (typically Int for Wizards, Cha for sorcerers, and so forth). You may also use this ability on a willing creature, but only one target may benefit from this ability at a time. It cannot be granted to a second target until the duration of the first use expires.
In addition, if you are in contact with the earth when you rest, you regain additional hit points equal to your key ability modifier—this only applies if you heal as part of the rest.
Eye of the Earth Dragon
After reaching 4th level, when attempting to scry a target with an arcane spell, you may spend a point of favor to add your class level as a bonus to the Will save DC, and the earth itself forms into a suitable scrying surface, negating your need to provide a suitable focus for the spell. The bonus to the save DC only applies if the target is touching dirt or unfinished stone.
Earthen Dispersal
At 5th level, you learn to redirect magic into the earth itself, dispersing it harmlessly. When making a dispel check as part of an arcane spell, you can spend a point of favor to gain a +2 arcane bonus on the check as long as you are touching the earth. If you are underground, this arcane bonus increases to +4.
Fangs of the Earth Dragon
At 6th level, you can call upon the power of the Earth Dragon to harm your foes directly. By spending a point of favor as a move action, a portion of the earth rises up and transforms into slashing fangs of stone. The target of this ability takes 4d6 damage but can make a Reflex save for half damage (DC as a 4th-level arcane spell).
Allies of the Earth Dragon
At 7th level, your continuing study and attunement with the Earth Dragon allows you to call upon some of its allies with ease. When you use an arcane spell to summon one or more creatures with the earth subtype, you can spend a point of favor as a free action upon the completion of the spell. If you do the summoned creatures gain +2 hit points per Hit Die and a +2 arcane bonus to their Strength and Dexterity scores, and the number of rounds of the spell’s duration is increased by 2.
Ward of the Earth Dragon
Upon reaching 8th level, as long as you are touching the earth, the power of the earth dragon fortifies your body and spirit, granting you a +1 arcane bonus on all saving throws and a +2 arcane bonus to your natural armor and the stability special ability. As an immediate action, you can spend a point of favor to double these bonuses for 5 rounds.
