Vitalist

Vitalists learns to manipulate their psionic energy to heal not only themselves but others. They are able to direct healing energy where it is needed and even learn how to use personal healing powers to heals others at a distance.

However, vitalists have a darker side as well. Knowing how to heal the body also gives them insight in how to harm it. Skilled vitalists learn how to drain the vitality from their enemies to and impart that vitality to their allies or themselves, effectively transferring their own ailments to their enemies.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

A Vitalist gains no proficiency with any type of weapon, armor, or shield.

Healing Touch

At 1st level, you learn to transfer psionic healing through your aura to heal others with a touch. You may manifest the following personal powers with a range of touch but only on a willing target: biofeedback, body adjustment, body purification, natural healing, suspend life, sustenance, and vigor.

In addition, you add the empathic transfer, hostile empathic transfer, natural healing, and psionic revivify powers to your class power list for all psionic manifesting classes you possess. You may select these powers as powers known.

Empathic Healing

Beginning at 2nd level, you gain a reserve of points called your Empathic Reserve, which you can use to both heal and harm. Your empathic reserve is equal to your vitalist level × your Wisdom bonus (minimum equal to your class level). This reserve is refilled automatically after a Long Rest.

Healing

You can use your empathic reserve to heal wounds (your own or those of others) by touch. You may choose to divide your healing among multiple recipients, and you don’t have to use it all at once. Using empathic healing to heal is a standard action.

When you manifest the empathic transfer power, you may add any amount from your empathic reserve to the healing granted by that power. This does not increase the amount of damage you take.

Harming

Alternatively, you can use your empathic reserve to deal damage to living creatures, absorbing their vitality into your reserve. Using empathic healing in this way requires a successful melee touch attack but doesn’t provoke an attack of opportunity. Harming creatures in this way refills your empathic reserve, up to your normal maximum. You cannot deal more damage with this ability than you can absorb into your reserve.

When you manifest the hostile empathic transfer power, you may increase the amount of damage dealt to refill your empathic reserve.

Self Sacrifice

You may use a swift action to harm yourself to refill your empathic reserve, sacrificing your own vitality to heal the wounds of others.

As an example, a 2nd-level vitalist with an 18 Wisdom would be able to heal 8 hit points per day (2 × 4 = 8). If she used 5 of those points to heal an ally, she would have 3 points of healing left available to her. She also now has the option to make a touch attack to harm an enemy for up to 5 points of damage, which would refill her empathic reserve to 8.

Aura Healing

Beginning at 3rd level, you are able to direct certain powers through your aura, allowing you heal your allies at a distance. You may manifest biofeedback, body adjustment, body purification, empathic transfer, natural healing, suspend life, sustenance, and vigor on a willing target at close range (25 ft. + 5ft/2 levels).
