This spell may only target a spellcaster who has just had a spell successfully countered and must be cast immediately after the spell is countered. You drain the ambient magic from the lost spell to empower yourself, gaining a number of temporary hit points equal to the target’s caster level plus the countered spell’s level. The target of this spell suffers a magic backlash, suffering damage equal to the temporary hit points you gain.
