You draw the soul from a newly dead body and imprison it in a soul gem. This spell can only affect mindless spirits with a CR no higher than your caster level. The subject must have been dead no more than 1 round per caster level.
The soul gem used as the focus for this spell must be worth at least 1,000 gp value for every Hit Die possessed by the creature to be trapped. If the gem is not valuable enough, it shatters when the entrapment is attempted.
