Feypacts

Although the most powerful of fey can create feypacts, the Accords do not permit individual fey to grant them. No fey ever willingly breaks the Accords, especially not those powerful enough to offer pacts. As such, a feypact may only be made with one of the five official Courts among the fey: Summer Court, Winter Court, Dawn Court, Shadow Court, and Court of Stars.

Forming a feypact is the same as pledging oneself in service to the Court, and the fey do not look kindly on those who break their oaths.

Costs of a Feypact

Unlike many patrons, the Fey Courts do not value material goods. To form a feypact, the spellcaster must agree to form a Deal with the Court of their choice. The Deal always involves performing some task for the Court that is nigh incomprehensible to the spellcaster. It can range from the mundane to the extraordinary, as simple as walking backwards around one’s home three times to slaying a dragon with nothing more than a handful of particularly sour grapes.

A failed negotiation check does not prevent the feypact from being formed. However, it often makes completing the Deal more onerous.

Regardless of the Deal made, the feypact is received immediately, and the spellcaster knows exactly how much time he has to complete his end of the Deal. In addition, the spellcaster is under the effects of a geas and is compelled to uphold his end of the Deal. Any magic used to remove the geas before the Deal is completely also breaks the Deal and removes the feypact.

If the spellcaster fails to complete the Deal within the allotted time, the feypact is broken, and the benefits are immediately lost. This also occurs immediately if the spellcaster makes the decision to not honor the Deal. Breaking a Deal with the fey is dangerous and always has unforeseen complications.
