Open Game Content

Gnomes are brilliant tinkers, builders, engineers, and artificers, always seeking to discover the underlying principles that govern the world around them and then using those principles to create something new.

-2 Strength, +2 Intelligence
Gnomes are small and sleight of build, but they have a powerful intellect.
Small Humanoid (Gnome)
Movement Speed
A Gnome's base land speed is 20 ft.
Senses
Low-Light Vision
A gnome can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. He retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
Keen Senses (Ex)
Gnomes gain a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Obsessive (Ex)
Gnomes gain a +2 racial bonus on a Profession skill of their choice.
Illusion Resistance (Ex)
Gnomes always try to see the world for what it really is and gain a +2 racial bonus to saves against illusion spells and effects.
Racial Enmity (Ex)
A gnome gains Favored Enemy (Humanoid (gnoll, goblinoid, orc)) with a +1 bonus. This functions as the ranger ability of the same name, except for the size of the bonus. The bonus stacks with the favored enemy class feature. In addition, a gnome gains a bonus on attack rolls against orcs, goblins, and gnolls equal to his total favored enemy bonus against them.
Weapon Familiarity (Ex)
Gnomes may treat gnome hooked hammers and other weapons with “gnome” or “gnomish” in the name as martial weapons rather than exotic weapons.
Gnome Magic (Su)
Gnomes add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws of illusion spells or effects they cast. This adjustment stacks with those from similar effects.
Spell-Like Abilities (Sp)
Gnomes with a Charisma score of 11 or higher can use the following spell-like abilities each once per day—dancing lights, ghost sound, prestidigitation, and speak with animals. Caster level 1st; save DC 10 + gnome’s Cha modifier + spell level. A gnome that gains the ability to spontaneously cast arcane spells gains these spells as bonus cantrips known and can cast them as normal for his spellcasting class.
Languages
Automatic: Dagr’rune and Common. Bonus: Draconic, Goblin, Khaakaan, Orkan, and Sylvan.
Preferred Classes
Gnomes tend to prefer taking levels in Artificer, Psion, or Wizard.
