Unlike half-elves and half-orcs, the half-giant race is called such because their stature is only half that of the more common giant races. They call themselves the “Talrok” in their own language, which roughly translates to “short but mighty.” Many scholars have argued that this is no different to calling themselves “half-giants,” to which most talroks respond with a smile, a shrug, and saying, “You just wouldn’t understand.”
Talrok typically do not take much pride in their great stature or strength, seeing it simply as being the way things are, a mere happenstance of birth. Rather, they place great value on the pursuit of knowledge, the exploration of philosophical wisdom, and artistic expression. They establish prestigious academies and libraries within their communities, where individuals of all races are welcomed to engage in intellectual exchange, philosophical debate, and the development of various forms of art, such as music, poetry, painting, and sculpture.
Few Talrok become adventurers, as such endeavors would only take them away from the finer aspects of life. Those who do travel tend to do so as part of a formal research expedition or archeological survey.
