The power of the natural world is undeniable, and at some point, every individual dreams of letting everything go to run free and become one with nature. Those who embraced that feeling and let loose the beast hidden in the heart of every man developed the Feral Crescent discipline. By tapping into the feral energy of the natural world, disciples can transform themselves and fight as savage beasts, rending their foes with tooth and claw. The discipline draws its name from the phase of the moon which its disciples believe looks like nothing more than a cruel slash in the sky.
Feral Crescent is practiced extensively by the Moreau peoples, and it is sometimes suggested that it was they who developed it. However, as with anything related to their race, the truth of this is shrouded in mystery. What is known for certain is that the Feral Crescent discipline is perfectly suited to those who have animalistic traits or who follow certain druidic practices.
Key Skill: Natural Lore.
Discipline Weapons: Close Combat, Natural.
Wild Techniques
Certain techniques of the Feral Crescent bear the Wild descriptor. These techniques employ natural attacks. If a disciple does not possess the appropriate natural attack, then the feral energy within the technique temporarily transforms their body to possess that natural attack, dealing damage appropriate to their creature size. This transformation ends immediately once the technique has been resolved, and any natural attacks gained from the technique are lost.
Natural Weapon | Small | Medium | Large |
---|---|---|---|
Bite or Gore | 1d4 | 1d6 | 1d8 |
Claw, Slam, or Sting | 1d3 | 1d4 | 1d6 |
If a disciple already possesses the type of natural attack granted by a technique, they use the higher damage.
Any natural weapon used as part of a technique is considered a primary attack for the purpose of resolving that technique. This means it uses a disciple’s full base attack bonus and add their full Strength bonus on damage rolls.
All techniques with the Wild descriptor are supernatural abilities.
A reference table with the common natural attacks used by this discipline has been provided here showing the damage each type of attack deals for Small, Medium, and Large sized creatures.
Wild Shifting
The Feral Crescent discipline makes use of the same feral energy which powers the ability to wild shift. Any disciple who possesses the ability to wild shift gains a number of additional wild shift uses per day equal to the highest level Feral Crescent technique that they know. A disciple who lacks this ability does not gain any additional benefit when learning Feral Crescent techniques.
