Holy Altar

A permanent edifice often built of stone, wood, metals, and precious gems to venerate a deity can be blessed to become a holy altar. Though usually built as ceremonial altars, a holy altar can also take the form of a shrine or other permanent fixture dedicated to the deity.

A holy altar covers an area within a 50-ft.-radius emanation with a consecrate spell. The blessed altar always grants the greater bonus of the spell, as it meets the special requirements.

If the altar is moved to a new location, broken, or desecrated (or consecrated by an opposing deity), it becomes completely inert until it is repaired and the consecrate altar ritual is performed again or a consecrate spell is cast on it.

Unholy altars which emanate a desecrate spell may also be created and follow the same rules.

Strong evocation; CL 20th; consecrate altar ritual; Price 5,000 gp (or more for particularly ornate altars).
