Spring Attack

[Combat]

You use your mobility to attack then quickly escape.

Prerequisites

Dexterity 13, Dodge, Mobility, base attack bonus +4.

Benefit

When wielding a melee or ranged weapon, you can make a standard action attack with that weapon at any point during a movement action, allowing you to move both before and after the attack, provided that your total distance moved is not greater than your speed.

Moving in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from a creature you attack in melee, though it might provoke attacks of opportunity from other creatures, if appropriate.

You must move at least 5 feet both before and after you make your attack in order to utilize the benefits of Spring Attack.

You can’t use this feat if you are wearing heavy armor.

Special

If you have other movement modes, you can use Spring Attack while burrowing, climbing, flying (including as part of a dive), and swimming, provided that you have enough movement to meet the minimum distance requirements.

In addition, you may change movement types as part of a Spring Attack, for example swimming underwater, breaching the surface to attack an enemy in the air, and then continuing to fly afterward. In such cases, maximum movement is limited by the slowest movement speed used. Using that same example, if the attacker had a swim speed of 20 feet and a fly speed of 40 feet, he would be limited to a maximum movement distance of 20 feet.
