When using the Rapid Shot feat, you may make a melee attack against an adjacent opponent with a drawn arrow or crossbow bolt rather than shooting it. If your attack hits, the target is pushed back 5 feet away from you and takes 1d3 piercing damage (1d2 if you are Small). This melee attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
This melee attack replaces the normal extra attack from Rapid Shot, but all of your attack rolls for the round still take the -2 penalty.
