Domain Basics
Each deity grants a cleric access to certain domains, from which a cleric chooses two. Each domain grants a number of domain powers, dependent upon the level of the cleric, as well as a number of bonus spells.
If a domain (or subdomain) ability calls for a saving throw, the DC of the save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the character’s cleric level + their key ability modifier.
Subdomains
Subdomains represent a more specific focus for clerical worship and power that allow players greater flexibility in customizing their characters. Each domain has a number of subdomains listed indented beneath it, each of which replaces a granted power and a number of spells in the domain’s granted spell list.
A cleric who chooses a subdomain must have access to that subdomain from their deity. Some deities do not offer any subdomains, while others might offer a subdomain without offering its parent Associated Domain. If a cleric selects a subdomain, they cannot also select its Associated Domain or as their other domain choice (in effect, the subdomain replaces its Associated Domain) nor can the cleric select a second subdomain of the same Associated Domain. If a subdomain has more than one Associated Domains, the cleric can only select the subdomain for one of their domains.
Subdomains are treated as equivalent to their Associated Domain for any effect or prerequisite based on domains. Subdomains can be selected by druids (except the metal subdomain) and inquisitors (if their deity allows it).
